What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion, also known as microderm, is one of the easiest and most effective series of anti-aging treatments you can have. Its benefits are many: microderm softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps to smooth coarsely textured skin, decreases the appearance of scarring, decreases pore size, and reduces superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as age spots.

Microdermabrasion also makes it easier for high-tech skin care products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and help build collagen, which gives skin its youthful appearance. It may be used in conjunction with other Treatments such as photo rejuvenation or medical peels to enhance results!

At Skin2 Aesthetics we use the DiamondTome™ system along with professional products customized for your skin type and needs.  The length of the treatment and number of treatments vary depending on skin type and condition. Results are gradual but highly effective. Most people experience softer, smoother skin after their first treatment.

Microdermabrasion is highly effective for almost anyone, especially those looking for a simple way to improve the appearance and health of their skin without the need for any recovery time. Immediately after treatment, your skin will not only look healthier, it will feel smoother?and softer too. It may also appear flushed, a fresh pink/rosy glow or minimal redness (superficial erythema), which usually disappears within a few minutes to several hours depending on skin type and depth of treatment).

Where is Microdermabrasion used?
Most commonly to treat the face, neck, decollate, shoulders, back, hands, elbows, and knees. Although, any skin surface, on any part of the body, can benefit from treatment.

How often will are treatments required?
Microdermabrasion is a progressive, not an aggressive treatment. Results are often seen after Four to Six treatments, Some conditions, like scaring, may require more. After the first treatment, the skin will feel and appear cleaner, smoother, and softer for most people.

Initially, treatments may take place every 1 – 2 weeks, based on the client’s tolerance and needs. Then, ideally, monthly maintenance are required to maintain the benefits, as skin cells mature approximately every 28 to 35 days.

How does it all work?
Removing the dead skin cells found on the surface of the skin, helps diminish the appearance of fine lines, hyperpigmentation, acne scars etc. (think of shaving off the peaks of mountains to make the valleys shallower and less noticeable).
